Privacy Policy
Privacy for the ContextPen website and Chrome extension.
We keep this simple: ContextPen is designed to help you read and write faster without using your content for AI training or sharing it with third parties for marketing.

What ContextPen processes
ContextPen processes the text you select or submit in order to provide AI features such as summarizing, rewriting, grammar fixes, translation, and reading assistance. We may also process basic account information such as your email address when you sign in.
How your text is used
Your text is used only to deliver the feature you requested. We do not sell your text, and we do not use your content to train our own AI models.
Hosted mode and own-key mode
On Free and Pro plans, requests may be routed through ContextPen infrastructure before being sent to supported AI providers. On Lifetime own-key mode, your requests use the provider keys you connect and are routed for direct model access based on your plan configuration.
Third-party AI providers
Depending on the model you choose, requests may be processed by third-party AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. Their handling of data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Provider keys
If you connect your own provider keys, those keys are stored for your account and used only to send requests on your behalf. They are not displayed back to other users and are not sold or shared.
Analytics, limits, and abuse prevention
We may store limited usage information such as request counts, model category, and estimated usage totals in order to enforce plan limits, protect the service from abuse, and improve reliability.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest. No service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce access and exposure as much as possible.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
